When a Monkey Made it Rain Money in UP

-Advertisements-

In Auraiya, Uttar Pradesh, people recently witnessed a scene straight out of a Bollywood comedy. A mischievous monkey turned an ordinary day at a tehsil office into absolute chaos — by literally making it rain money.

How the Money Rain Started

A schoolteacher named Rohitash Chandra had just withdrawn ₹80,000 for a land deal. He placed the cash safely in a bag and kept it inside his motorcycle’s boot while running errands at the Bidhuna Tehsil office.

But fate had other plans. A monkey lurking nearby spotted the unattended bag, snatched it, and quickly climbed up a tree. What happened next left everyone stunned — instead of keeping the loot, the monkey began tossing ₹500 currency notes from the treetop.

The Frenzy

In seconds, the office premises turned into a mini fairground. People rushed to grab the flying notes, laughing, shouting, and stretching out their hands to catch whatever they could. Some managed to collect quite a few, while others simply stood and gawked at the surreal sight.

By the time the chaos settled, only ₹52,000 was recovered. The remaining ₹28,000 was gone, either blown away by the wind or pocketed in the commotion.

Not the First Monkey Mischief

While this incident went viral, it’s far from the first time monkeys have left people scratching their heads. Across India, they’ve been stealing food at weddings, snatching bags from tourists, and even making off with jewellery worth lakhs. This latest “money rain” is just another reminder of how bold and unpredictable these primates can be.

The Bigger Picture

Behind the humor lies a serious issue. Monkeys often enter human settlements because their natural habitats are shrinking. As towns and villages expand, these animals adapt — but their curiosity and boldness can sometimes turn into mischief. What seems like a funny viral video today also reflects how human and animal worlds are colliding more than ever.

The Talk of the Town

For the residents of Auraiya, this bizarre event will be remembered for years. Some jokingly called it a “Robinhood act,” while others laughed at their own failed attempts to grab the fluttering notes. Whatever the case, it was truly a once-in-a-lifetime spectacle — a monkey creating a shower of money in broad daylight.

Closing Thought

Incidents like these are rare, hilarious, and slightly unbelievable. Imagine walking into a government office and suddenly finding ₹500 notes falling from the sky. Auraiya got lucky with a story that will be retold for generations.

So, here’s the real question for you:

If you were there and money started raining from a tree, would you chase the notes or just stand back and enjoy the moment?
