Amrish Puri Wikipedia –
Amrish Puri was born on 22 June 1932 in a Punjabi Hindu family in Nawanshahr, Punjab. His father’s name was Nihal Singh and his mother’s name was Ved Kaur. he was raised in Punjab with his 5 siblings namely Chaman Puri, Madan Puri, Kanta Mehra, and Harish Singh Puri. Chaman Puri, Madan Puri, and Kanta Mehra were his elder siblings.
Amrish’s nickname in childhood was Amrish Lal. The interesting fact here is that his father Nihal Singh never wanted any of his sons to go to Bollywood.
But still both his brothers went to Bollywood and achieved a lot of fame, but Amrish did not want to hurt his father’s sentiments, so at the age of 14 he joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.
Amrish Puri, while sharing his experience about Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh in his autobiography ‘The Act of Life’, has said that after joining the Sangh, his ideals became higher. but after the death of Mahatma Gandhi on 30 January 1948, Amrish Puri detached himself from the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.

When he enrolled in college, he became attracted towards acting and singing. He participated in many acting and singing competitions. After completing his education from Delhi and Shimla, he reached Mumbai in 1953 with the dream of becoming an actor.
